Essay On Reading A Useful Hobby

My hobby is reading. I read story books, magazines, newspapers and any kind of material that I find interesting.

This hobby got started when I was a little boy. I had always wanted my parents to read fairy tales and other stories to me. Soon they got fed up and tired of having to read to me continually. So as soon as I could, I learned to read. I started with simple ABC books. Soon I could read simple fairy tales and other stories. Now I read just about anything that is available.

Reading enables me to learn about so many things that I would otherwise not know. I learned about how people lived in bygone days of magic and mystery. I learned about the wonders of the world, space travel, human achievements, gigantic whales, tiny viruses and other fascinating things of our world.

The wonderful thing about reading is that I do not have to learn things the hard way. For example, I do not have to catch a disease to know that it can kill me. I know the danger so I can avoid it. Also I do not have to go deep into the jungle to learn about the tiger. I can read all about it in a book.

Books provide the reader with so much information and facts. They have certainly helped me in my daily life. I am better equipped to cope with living. Otherwise I would go about ignorantly learning things the hard way.

So I continue to read. Besides being more informedabout the world, I also spend my time profitably. It is indeed a good hobby.

Please reviews my essay. Thank you a lot

My hobby

I have been devoting the majority of my free time to do what I love most: reading.

It is just wonderful to let myself lose into a whole new world every time I open a book. It can be the fascinating world of magic in "Harry Potter", the intricate world of an autistics boy in "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time", or the mystery world of space and time in "A brief history of time". I was born with the desire to explore the world. But my current situation does not give me any chance to do so. Reading comes as the most useful facility for me to see this wonderful world through others' eyes, thus offering me the scenes of all over the world.

Reading has the ability to change my life, reading helps develop a sense of creativity, ect. Those conceptions are what I hear from my peers, my teachers all the time. They undoubtedly arrive at these conceptions through their own adventures in the books. But to me, reading is simply great way to unwind at the end of a stressful day and enjoy my own imaginations.

It is many years since my first reading. Reading is not my hobby anymore. It is now my need.

It is just wonderful to let myself loose in a whole new world every time I open a book.

For book titles, do not use " " marks. Instead, italicize the title:

It can be the fascinating world of magic in Harry Potter, the intricate world of an autistics boy in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, or the mystery world of space and time in A Brief History of Time.

Reading has the potential to change my life; it helps develop a sense of creativity. Those conceptions are what I hear from my peers, my teachers all the time.

Reading has become a familiar experience over the years; now it is not only a hobby, but also a need.

I love reading a lot, but I find it is quite hard to convey my feeling, my passion to others. I feel the short essay above is not expressive enough. Have you got any suggestion for me?

Yes, how do you convey a feeling? I recommend making some time to read stephen king's On Writing.

That book will help you more than I can here. Writing is telepathy, he says!

However, I would like to say that certain words are powerful. Clear, specific words, and words that make the reader SEE something in the mind.

Writing is a way to share the most important secrets you've discovered about life. If you are telling those secrets, you won't be able to help but write with feeling.
